Deep within the dark depths of the internet is a little oasis of the written word called Wyrdwood Publications. This wonderful site publishes pagan delights in E-book form. WP is also dedicated to environment awareness and plants a tree, in a deforested area, with the sale of every 'Green Leaves' eBook.
It is owned and operated by Edain Duguay and she has taken obvious care to bring together a collection of authors that are both unique and talented.
Warrior Poet, Musings of an Asatru Warrior by Robert Allard is one of WP’s delights. Released Oct. 22/09
Warrior Poet is Robert’s first prose piece and is exclusive to Wyrdwood Publications. The reader is taken on a journey of the soul, written by a modern day warrior. Robert is an accomplished leather worker and has completed wood projects that leave me in awe. Considering Robert is my “Kindred Brother” and we have spent many a night around the fire, I had no idea this strong craftsman and experienced swordsman also had a Skuld hidden deep within his warrior persona. Robert has taken the same care in his poetic musings as he does with his leather work and has therefore tooled a written work of art.
He gives his reader a glimpse into the heart of his creativity and does it with passion. His use of Kennings is profound and authentic. Robert has captured the essence of a warrior, wrapped it in chain mail and served it to his reader with the nine noble virtues as his shield.
Yule is just around the corner and if you’re looking for the perfect gift for the heathen on your list, I believe Warrior Poet, Musings of an Asatru Warrior would satisfy even the harshest of critics. I am 10 pages into and I have to admit the poetry is beautifully written and wording is terrific. I have yet to read a poetry book like this one. It really is moving. I very much recommend this for any poetry lovers out there.
